ONECHANBARA: Bikini Zombie Slayers

This week I got to preview D3 Publishing's upcoming line-up of games. Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad was one of the two that stood out the most. Why? Beautiful women and zombies. What more can you ask for? The original thought that went into this game was girl gets splattered in blood, girl looks naked. SOLD! The premise is to just have goofy fun with the over the top blood splatter.

I was shown the Wii version of this game, however, it will be available for XBOX 360. For the Wii, there are four playable ladies to choose from including the sisters Aya and Saki. The 360 version will have seven ladies, some unlockable, some downloadable. Each lady will have a different story and may start in different areas of the city. The stories are slightly different in each version. Strengths and weaknesses ranging from speed and agility to having two swords, longer reach etc. will differ between girl to girl. Weapons changes are similar, for example, one weapon for precision or two for large crowds.

While slashing through the zombies, your sword meter will fill with blood. If you don't clean your sword, which consists of flicking the nunchuck, it will start to get stuck inside zombies making it harder for you to defend yourself if surrounded. There are also shrines where you can save your game but clean yourself off as well. Another meter will show how much blood you've gotten on your body. Once the meter is full you go into rage mode and virtually every enemy around you disintegrates. At the same time, your life gets taken off until you find a shrine to cleanse at, so you have to be careful in how you use your powers.

Both versions of the game will be co-op and will support various game modes. Story mode allows for the main storyline, free play will let you replay you favorite levels, survival lets you kill as many zombies before health runs out and quest mode takes you through 40 harrowing quests.

You can expect to see ONECHANBARA: Bikini Zombie Slayers within the next month.
